David C. Watkins, III.

David Watkins is the founder of Watkins Law, PLLC, based in Charlotte Court House, Virginia. An eighth-generation resident of Charlotte County, David carries forward his family’s deep legacy of public service and community involvement in Southside Virginia.
David earned his B.A. in History from Hampden-Sydney College and studied abroad at the University of Oxford, focusing on Shakespearean literature and early modern politics. He received his J.D. from the Appalachian School of Law in 2014. Prior to founding his firm in 2025, he practiced at Hawthorne & Hawthorne, P.C. and co-founded Elder & Watkins, P.C., where he served as managing partner of the Charlotte Court House office for nine years.
An experienced trial attorney, David represents individuals, businesses, and municipalities in a wide range of legal areas, including criminal defense, real estate, family law, estate planning, civil litigation, and municipal law. He is admitted to practice in all Virginia courts and the U.S. District Courts for both the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia.
Outside of his practice, David is active in numerous civic organizations and serves on the boards of BCC Bankshares, Inc. and The Bank of Charlotte County. He is also a past President of the Keysville Ruritan Club. He and his family divide their time between Farmville and Richmond, and enjoy traveling, cooking, and spending time with their dogs.
